Our
Vision
"To see the oneness and unity of the Body of Christ reflected
in multicultural local churches." (Gal.
3:28, Phil. 2:2-3, Eph. 2:19)
Our
Mission "To
equip church leaders, local church pastors, and lay leaders to transition their
churches into multicultural ministries." Our
History Multi
Cultural Ministry came into existence as a result of Art Lucero's observations
in the late seventies that 1.) Churches died because of the changes demographics
of their community; 2.) and, Churches experienced tragic relational breakdowns
between members of the host church and a renting ethnic church. Multi
Cultural Ministry's President & Founder, Rev. Art Lucero, studied twenty-eight
of the major denominations serving in the greater Los Angeles area to determine
the impact of the changing demographics upon these churches and the measures taken
to minister to the ethnics in their communities. This research led to the development
of the initial strategy to promote multicultural local churches. As
Director of Ethnic Ministries for Bible Church Mission he implemented this strategy
to assist churches in hosting an ethnic church plant. Over a period of six years
seventeen churches participated. Many churches attempted this task on their own
without assistance from us. Most struggled and others failed. The lessons learned
strengthened our resolve to walk a local church through the process to avoid the
seven fatal errors Art identified in multicultural ministry. The successes and
failures we experienced led to the strategy that MCM employs to prepare churches
for reaching the nations among us. MCM continues to study methods employed by
others to stay on the cutting edge of multicultural local church ministry. |
